El Djem

El Djem the descendant of Thysdrus a very prosperous city in the Roman Empire. Strategically located on the trade routes between Tunisia and Roman cities, Thysdrus was a mecca for trade in
goods. The city had grown considerably in the third century with the production and sale of olive oil. She was soon to acquire baths, a circus and a well-preserved amphitheater.
